Green Friday: every purchase contributes a tree

In recent years, we have somewhat ignored the existence of Black Friday because, although we certainly grant our customers a discount, first of all, it is impossible to compete against big players who can sell at a loss for a few days and, secondly, as an ecological webshop, we find it difficult to reconcile ourselves with the impulsive disposable economy that this day represents.

That's why we're participating in Green Friday this year: for every purchase you make in our shop this weekend (from Green Friday to Cyber Monday), we'll donate 5% to the Forest for all-campaign of Natuurpunt.

With this campaign, Natuurpunt wants to plant 1 m² of forest for every Fleming in five years. For every € 4 they receive, 2 m² of forest will be planted with three guarantees: smartly planted, well managed and eternally protected.

Where should all that forest come from?

Natuurpunt: "Preferably adjacent to existing forest. Larger contiguous forests are more valuable than separate postage stamp forests. We try to plant forests complementary to our nature reserves and start new large projects with a broad vision. Ideally, we make connections between existing forest cores. It is not the intention to afforest open habitats such as heath, peat or wet grasslands, because they have great value in terms of biodiversity and climate. Nature should not be the victim of forest ambitions. Above all, natural areas should be added, even outside the current nature destinations."
